Art Basel Miami 2019 ~ From Emerging Talents to Modern Masters
The art world reunites in Miami Beach for the leading contemporary art fair. Here’s some things you should know!
Miami is ready to host the world’s leading contemporary & modern art event #ArtBaselMiami2019. 269 Galleries from Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa will showcase over 4,000 artists. In this year’s edition Visitors will be able discover an incredible artistic & cultural offering of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, films, videos, and digital art from emerging talents to modern & contemporary masters. Here’s some things you should know about the show:
- The main sector, Galleries, features 203 of the finest art galleries from 33 countries and 5 continents. You will find a strong lineup of galleries and artists from Asia and Latin America. > Here’s a full list of the exhibitors
- Nova is the sector which focusses on never-seen-before pieces fresh from the art studios. 25 Galleries here will present a maximum of 3 artists and display works created within the last 3 years. > List of galleries here
- Positions features 14 solo booths, allowing visitors, collectors & curators to discover young talents from across the globe. > More info here
- Meridians presents monumental works in MBCC’s new Grand Ballroom. Don’t miss this sector if you’re looking for large-scale sculptures, paintings, installations, videos & live performances. > List of galleries here
- Kabinett is a unique space in which galleries present an artist of their choice. A diverse curatorial experience where you will find art historical showcases and solo shows of emerging talents. > Find out more here
- Survey features 16 works created before 2000s. Thematic exhibitions and solo presentations by individual artists representing a wide range of cultures, generations and artistic approaches. > List of galleries
- Edition is where 11 leading publishers of works, prints and multiples will exhibit renowned artists. Don’t miss this section if you’re looking for notable and rare publications. > More info here

Pop-up shows, parties, installations & other happenings! The Art Basel Miami Beach fair features this year’s crème de la crème of the art world, while the whole city prepares for what is more commonly known as “Miami Art Week”.
Here’s some things not to miss:
- The eco-art installation “Plan(T)” by Miami environmental artist Xavier Cortada. Located at the New World Center, the project (commissioned by Facebook) displays saltwater-resistant mangrove seedlings and activations to engage in the debate around climate change and rising sea levels.

- “Infinity Mirror Rooms” by Yayoi Kusama. You can checkout this mesmerizing installation “All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins” at ICA Miami until Jan 31st.
- Leandro Erlich’s “Order of Importance”. Commissioned by the City of Miami Beach, this unique temporary installation can be found on Lincoln Road beachfront until December 15th.
